In- Home Newborn Sessions

Why should you have a newborn session at home?

It is hard enough to wash your hair after having a baby; you're sleep deprived and overwhelmed at this new bundle of joy. Packing the bag to go out is a military operation at the best of times, and a trip to the shops is essentially a whole day plan. Don't rush. Let me come to you. You can get ready without having to pack and work out if you have enough bottles/changes of clothes/nappies to see you through our time. If I get there and you've focused on getting baby ready and you aren't? Fine. Sleepy baby cuddles are my thing. Plus, I can capture all of baby's details, sleepy snuggles and photos with Dad while you make sure you feel the most comfortable. I find the best light in the house (note the photos below, all by a window!) and I usually arrange my newborn shoots between 10-1 allowing 2 -2.5 hours from that point to shoot. It means you have your day either side. Go for lunch, relax. You get your sneak peaks 48 hours after, too!

FAQs

What if my house is a mess? I don’t have cream sofas and it’s not neutral?

While I totally understand the worry, I am here to tell you it literally will not matter one tiny bit. I could walk into a house completely on it’s ear, and we will find space to create your forever memories that give you raw, real feelings for years to come when you look back and remember the moment you brought your newborn home. I will, if needed, tuck washing behind the doors or shoot from angles that cover the true reality of the newborn days. But sometimes, it’s nice to remember the chaos. Colour scheme wise - your house is yours. Forget what you see on insta. I do say that lighter neutral colours are best to be dressed in as they don’t create colour casts on baby’s skin so they look true to colour, but that is the only reason.

Where do you travel to?

I travel the south east for newborn sessions, but travel may be an additional cost for you depending on your distance from me. Just ask and I can let you know.

Can I reschedule if things are tricky on the day?

It goes without saying that if you are frazzled, emotionally drained, feeding was awful the night before, colic/reflux have sent you into a sleep deprivation you’ve never known before, it is isn’t worth you gritting your teeth to get yourself ready for photos that you are just not in the mood for. As long as you message me by 8:30am the morning of your session, I will happily reschedule (that’s usually as sessions are booked for 10/10:30 and sometimes I’m already on the road, so if more local that time is more flexible!) If you need some time, then absolutely. However I can’t guarantee next availability, so you are always welcome to ask when my next available day is before you decide if you want to postpone. You and baby come first.
